Welcome to VersanaLife
An introduction to our mission of translating brain health research into practical guidance.
Welcome to VersanaLife
I'm Jim Kennedy, and I'm glad you've found your way here.
At 67, I've become increasingly interested in the question that concerns many of us as we age: How can we protect our cognitive health and reduce our risk of dementia?
Why This Site Exists
The research on brain health is vast, complex, and constantly evolving. Important findings are published in academic journals that most people never see, written in language that can be difficult to parse.
VersanaLife exists to bridge that gap.
Here, you'll find:
- Evidence-based information drawn from peer-reviewed research
- Clear explanations of complex neuroscience concepts
- Practical strategies you can implement in your daily life
- Honest acknowledgment of what we know—and what we don't
My Background
With a PhD and decades of experience in research, I understand how to evaluate scientific evidence. I know the difference between a well-designed study and a flawed one, between correlation and causation, between hype and genuine breakthrough.
But more than that, I'm personally invested in this topic. Like many of you, I want to age well. I want to maintain my mental sharpness, my independence, my quality of life.
What's Ahead
In the coming weeks and months, I'll be building out a comprehensive library of reference materials covering the key factors that influence brain health:
- Physical exercise and its effects on cognition
- The role of sleep in memory and brain maintenance
- Nutrition and the Mediterranean/MIND diets
- Cognitive training and mental stimulation
- Social connection and emotional well-being
Each piece will be carefully researched, clearly cited, and regularly updated as new evidence emerges.
